The Fontaine de Tourny was purchased by Québec City businessman Peter Simons and presented as a gift to Québec City. Originally installed in Bordeaux, France, Simons presented it as a symbol of the strong ties that had bound his originally Scottish family to Québec for five generations. Inaugurated on July 3, 2007, the anniversary of the day Québec City was founded and one year before it turned 400, the fountain sits in front of the National Assembly in the traffic circle on Avenue Honoré-Mercier.
